On Sunday, March 1, 2026, the Tokyo Marathon will once again bring together 39,000 runners from across the globe for one of the world’s premier road races. Hosted by the Tokyo Marathon Foundation in partnership with various public and private organizations, the event offers both a full marathon and a 10.7 km race for elite, semi-elite, recreational, youth, and para-athlete divisions. Renowned for its flat, speedy, and World Athletics certified route, the race winds through the heart of Tokyo, showcasing the city’s most famous sights. Runners will pass landmarks such as the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building, Kaminarimon Gate in Asakusa, the Imperial Palace, the stylish streets of Ginza, and the iconic Tokyo Tower. Along the way, crowds of spirited supporters create an atmosphere that fuels both performance and enjoyment.
